The Saguenay Port Authority Proud to Support Enviro-Actions Project

March 10th, 2022

With great pride, the Port of Saguenay confirmed, today, at a press conference, its participation in the Enviro-Actions project, developed by the Institut nordique de recherche en environnement et en santé au travail (INREST).

This innovative project aims in particular to install measurement equipment in the environment allowing the acquisition of new scientific knowledge, to follow its evolution, to develop proactive alert tools and to improve the measures and protocols in place in terms of prevention and intervention.

The Saguenay Port Authority will be at the heart of the practical and technological aspects of the project and will support, among other things, the installation of real-time monitoring equipment and technologies in its environment, which will allow the collection and transmission of unprecedented data on the marine ecosystem of the Saguenay-Saint-Laurent.

“The Port of Saguenay is very proud to be involved in the Enviro-Actions project, which will advance scientific knowledge, understanding and protection of the environment in which it operates. This initiative is directly in line with the new orientations of our sustainable development plan and our desire to be innovative, proactive and to act as a leader in our community. Enviro-Actions will help the entire maritime industry to improve measures, tools and best practices to promote prevention, coexistence and preservation of the environment. This project supports the responsible development of the industrial-port zone of the Port of Saguenay and confirms the strategic importance of the Saguenay River trade corridor within the St-Lawrence, said Mr. Carl Laberge, President and CEO of the Saguenay Port Authority, at the press conference.
