BlackRock Metals announces the establishment of its processing plant in the industrial area of the Port of Saguenay

December 13th, 2016

On December 9, BlackRock Metals Inc. announced that the site of the Port of Saguenay and its port industrial complex (PIA) had been chosen for the establishment of its new plant for the transformation of Vanadium-Titanium-Magnetite (VTM) concentrate. The latter aims to produce cast iron and ferrovanadium of high-purity iron that will be exported to the US and European markets.

The VTM concentrate will be produced by exploitation of the important Chibougamau deposit owned by the Company and will be transported by rail to the Grande-Anse site. According to BlackRock Metals Inc., the design and development of the processing plant will be completed in the spirit of best sustainable development practices in order to minimize the environmental footprint. The plant will be state-of-the-art and use clean, proven processes.

Mr. Ghislain Harvey, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saguenay Port Authority, is very proud of this decision by BlackRock and considers that all the efforts of the Port of Saguenay and Promotion Saguenay to bring important and job-creating companies to the Saguenay have borne fruit.

The Port of Saguenay has been working on this project with BlackRock Metals for more than five years and the construction of the railway service was a decisive factor in the company's decision to establish its processing plant on the site of Grande-Anse, in the City of Saguenay. The company's decision demonstrates the vision of the Port Authority in the establishment and development of its intermodal port industrial complex.
